I SHOULD like to use your columns, if I may, to draw attention to a planning application which has been submitted to North Herts District Council, for which there are only eight working days left in which to comment, and the plans are not yet available.

The application is for the erection of 14 houses following the demolition, which cannot be stopped, of nos. 16 and 20 Green Drift, Royston. The letter received by neighbours said that the details would be available on the website by December 22, but to date the plans are not available online, and the closing date for comments is January 10.

Although close neighbours have been told of the application, there is nothing to suggest that the 92 people who signed a petition against the previous application have been notified.

Therefore, anyone who was against the previous application is urged to consult the present plans as soon as they can.

I understand that it is the best part of a year now since the developers were first in contact with the planning department.

It does not bode well that it has chosen to submit its application at a time when people will find it difficult to see and discuss the plans, and when many of the days available to lodge an objection have come on national holidays.
