LAST Tuesday morning while I was working in Tannery Drift, Royston, I had to go to my van parked on my customer's drive opposite to where a number of cars were parked

Just at the same time, two traffic wardens were literally running down the road to where the cars were parked,.

One was on the phone to, I suppose another colleague, and calling out to the other warden, and I quote: "There must be at least 20 cars here in Tannery Drift, and I'm going to book the lot of them."

I have never seen such delight as these two characters displayed obvious pleasure in what they were going to get by booking these cars.

The vehicles were not causing any parking problems, possibly less than on any day when parents pick up their children.

Certainly no public spirit was on offer that morning just another £30 fine and another nail in the coffin of Royston's parking problems.

I WOULD like to take the opportunity to thank the two parking attendants who made my four-year-old daughter and her nursery classmates' first Christmas concert so memorable by booking all of their parents cars which were parked outside Tannery Drift School on Tuesday morning.

It is nice to see that the season of goodwill is in full swing at the council merry Christmas to them all.
