I SHOULD like to add to the debate regarding the Johnson Matthey site.

I live in North Close opposite the green.

The once clear view of the skyline from the front of my house has been impaired by past construction on the site at Johnson Matthey, now this new building being erected has obliterated the skyline view beyond all recognition.

This so called eco, environmentally-friendly society we are living in beggars belief and defies all comprehension.

How on earth could a building so high and of such magnitude be erected so close to a housing estate?

Further, I add, this new building in no way blends in with the other surrounding buildings.

I am Royston born and bred and have seen many changes, but this planning fiasco which has taken place at Johnson Matthey leaves one with no respect or faith in North Herts District Council whatsoever.

I have grave misgivings for the future of this rural market town for this generation and the generations to come.

I quote the words of John Bunyan: "Before we pay our debts to the past, make sure the future is indebted to us.

I THINK The Crow has done a great job for the last four or five weeks printing letters from residents and councillor expressing conflicting opinions on the new warehouse development on the former Johnson Matthey football field.

I would like to make two further points on this subject.

There are two websites where people can log on and

a) submit opinions (for or against) and/or pictures on the JM work, and

b) sign a petition expressing their disapproval of the work.

Both of these sites can be found at the web link www.jlb-sysdev.co.uk Please go there and contribute.

Conspicuous by its absence in this exchange of views is Johnson Matthey itself.

As the original instigators of this conflict of opinion, might it want to write in and support its case?
