We moved to Royston 25 years ago and our children had the great good fortune to come and live in a small market town where they could go to a "proper" toy shop to spend their pocket money.
I know Doug Drake has to retire sometime and I would not for a minute grudge him his retirement, but somehow I had never thought of Royston High Street being without him. He is an institution in town.
So on behalf of the many children (and parents) who spent happy hours in his shop, I would like to say thank you to Doug and his staff and to wish him a long and happy retirement.
