THE article about the £170 charity shop parking fine in The Crow (January 5) has just been brought to my attention as the owner of the shopping parade in question. Firstly, my sincere apologies to Mr Ackland for any inconvenience caused. Secondly, I would like to assure Mr Ackland, and anyone else who wishes to donate to the charity shops that they will not incur any fines for unloading goods. It has been necessary to install the system because of the continual problems with illegal parking. We are using new technology and there have been teething problems. The car park is privately owned and the parking restrictions are clearly displayed. Clearing the illegal parkers will make deliveries to the charity shops easier than previously. I would also point out that the system has not been installed to make money. In fact, we do not take any payment at all from G24. I hope this clarifies the situation.
