Jean Pooley, the former manager of the Citizens Advice Bureau in Royston, gave a talk on her life to members at a recent meeting.
She described her early life and a childhood in a vicarage in Birmingham, and holidays in Blackpool.
She talked about her various jobs in different schools, and how she eventually arrived at St Christopher's School in Letchworth, where she met her husband.
It was while teaching in Hitchin that she became a CAB, volunteer and later became manager of Hitchin CAB before moving to Royston.
