Fossils and the history of Barrington Works was the subject of a talk given to members by quarry manager John Drayton.
He explained, too, the procedure in making cement.
Mr Drayton said many fossils had been found, and a few were on show, flints spearheads, teeth, ammonites, nautilus and bones, the most famous being the jethyosaur, a reptile that lived at the same time as the dinosaurs, and which is now in the Natural History Museum in London.
A birthday card and wishes went to Gillian Stevens, and a letter of thanks from Addenbrooke's Hospital had been received for the £2,012 charity of the year cheque.
Winners in the evening raffle were Anita Crook, Irene Whitcomebe, Barbara Williams, and Rowena Burt.
