Crossed canal to position near Vitchte.
Many batteries pulling in with position on left reserved for 28 Brigade Royal Field Artillery.
Jocks went over. Shelled at first, but it soon quietened down. On again at 9am.
Fired upon sites at machine gun nest. Two horses hit by bullets. One hundred prisoners captured.
On again, many dead in fields.
Gallop through village that was being shelled. We kept low on the limbers.
Sub-gun came unhooked and was left behind in the village. Strange that it was not noticed that it was missing.
