Since the New Year in Royston I have noticed that obscene graffiti has been scrawled down Kneesworth Street, the windows of a solicitor and other local businesses have been smashed in, the bus shelter outside Somerfield defaced, and today a local garden had obviously been vandalised overnight.
Added to the normal detritus of broken bottles littering the town, the rowdy and intimidating behaviour now endemic in the town centre and its surroundings on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night one can only ask: What is going wrong with Royston?
And is now really the time for our local police station to be virtually shutting-up shop and abandoning this town's streets to the nocturnal yobs?
