Is it really true to say that Tesco killed our High Street? We voted with our feet, or was it with our purses. I regret losing various shops, especially Woolworths and Monty Radio, but the closing down of town centre shops is not peculiar to Royston. Even towns without the addition of a superstore are feeling the pinch.
Judging by the number of cars in the free car park at Tesco, we can assume that we are having many shoppers from a wide catchment area.
The up-to-date recycling centre provided by Tesco which recycles the clumsy plastic milk bottles is a boon to our recycling effort.
No doubt Tesco pays council rates commensurate with its size. Whenever there is an event for donation to local causes Tesco's name is often included.
Let's give some credit here.
