As there is a waiting list of 50 for allotments, shouldn't Royston Town Council be looking at providing additional allotments, not destroying those that have obviously had years of work put in to them.
As any gardener knows who has moved in to a new house, it can take years to get the soil in to decent shape.
I would think that any "alternate sites" the council has in mind would be unsuitable, even for housing, infested with perennial weeds, be on a slope, have hardly any soil over the chalk and would soon become a target for vandalism and theft.
