Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder was allegedly subject to offensive taunts at the weekend.
Some spectators were said to have shouted "sit down tumour boy", a reference to the life-saving brain operation Roeder had three-and-a-half-years ago.
If this was the case, it would seem fans are sinking to new levels which shouldn't be tolerated.
Not only would it be setting a bad example to youths watching the game but it is spiteful.
At the end of the day it's only a game of football but some fans can't help but take it all too seriously.
