IN 1947, the Baldock branch of the Royal British Legion had more than 300 members. It flourished and held many social and ceremonial events, supporting the community across the district. Some years ago the branch closed and the Legion Standard was "laid up" in St Mary's Church. There has been a recent resurgence in interest across the community of Baldock and the Herts County Committee is considering re-opening the branch. Currently, members from Baldock travel to other branches in Royston, Letchworth, Hitchin, Ashwell and Sandon. The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading charity supporting those who served and have served in HM Forces, but we seek members from across the community who wish to help in the Legion's work or simply enjoy the social activities branch membership offers. If you are interested in joining a new Baldock branch the contact county representative Alan Drury (below) or leave your name and address at the Baldock Community Centre or Baldock library.
