BOOT-IFUL: Reed First School pupils designed their own Wellingtons after a visit from a road safety officer. Pat Bridges visited the school in January 1989 to give a talk about road safety education to parents. When the subject of safety clothing arose, it was suggested that children could paint designs in fluorescent paint on wellies to ensure they would be seen in the dark by motorists.
