EVERYONE involved with the Baldock bypass project should be given a pat on the back. While it was being developed there was minimal disruption and I should know being a daily commuter on the route trying to get from Steeple Morden to Hatfield. The result has already knocked off at least six minutes from my journey, and once they have completed the junction at Letchworth Gate it will save 10 to 15 minutes. It has also made a huge difference to the village and Ashwell, which was used as a rat-run each day. So thank you again - and would they now start widening the A1M? When did we go metric? Perhaps that is another rule sneaked in by Tony Blair on instruction from the EU when our backs were turned. Mrs PATRICIA KING, e-mail
