Cyclists are being encouraged to get on their bikes in a bid to help local motor dealer Porsche Cambridge raise money for the Whizz Kidz charity.

From 5.30pm on Friday August 12 at the Snetterton motor racing circuit in Norfolk avid cyclists can participate in a unique time trial around the track, then at 6.30pm the circuit is opened up to families and enthusiasts to enjoy a leisurely, summer’s evening bike ride around this iconic venue. In return for this one-off experience, Porsche Cambridge is encouraging participants to make a donation of £10 to their chosen charity, Whizz Kidz.

Opened in 1953, Snetterton, located off the A11 near Thetford, hosts the British Touring Car Championship, British Formula Three Championship and British Superbike Championship. Between 1980 and 1994, the track hosted the UK’s first 24-hour race.

Jardine Motors Group, which includes Porsche Cambridge, and Whizz-Kidz have been in partnership since 2014 to support the charity’s young people’s services – including clubs, camps and wheelchair skills training – which enable the young people taking part to become confident and independent young adults. In just over two years the partnership has made an enormous impact on the lives of disabled children and young people living across the UK.

Stuart Lee, dealer principal at Porsche Cambridge, commented: “It will be a great spectacle to see the track full of cyclists using pedal power instead of high performance cars – just for one evening! This special event will be a chance for families and enthusiasts to gain a unique experience which wouldn’t normally be accessible to the public as well as help us raise funds for our worthy charity, Whizz Kidz.”
