A former winner of The X Factor will be coming in St Albans next week.
Joe McElderry, who rose to fame in 2009 after winning the sixth series of the ever-popular ITV talent show, has managed to carve out a successful career since winning The X Factor.
And his Set Your Soul Alive tour reaches the Alban Arena, in St Albans, on Friday, June 13.
Under the tutelage of Cheryl Cole, Joe stunned X Factor audiences with his vocal talents, taking on songs by legends in the world of music such as Luther Vandross, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Whitney Houston and Miley Cyrus.
His first single, The Climb, climbed to the top of the UK and Irish charts and this was soon followed by his debut album, titled Wide Awake.
Joe’s 24-carat voice hit the headlines again in 2011. Ready for a vocal challenge, Joe took part in the ITV show Popstar to Operastar.
Each week Joe took on incredibly difficult songs and managed to conquer them with ease.
In all the episodes that Joe competed, he received more votes than the other contestants combined and never received less than 58.2 per cent of the public vote.
Joe battled it out with Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker in the final to become the overall winner with more than 70 per cent of the vote.
Once again, Joe proved more recently that he had the Midas touch, conquering every challenge he faced and winning every television show he enters.
In January, Joe entered Channel 4 show Jump, which saw celebrities competing against one another in winter sports activities.
He entered the competition as a late replacement and eventually went on to win with an impressive final jump of 17.5 metres off the K40 ski jump.
It’s as a performer though that Joe truly comes to life.
And for one night only, audiences in St Albans will be taken on a musical roller-coaster, with Joe moving effortlessly from heartwarming ballads to tragic arias.
Tickets for Joe McElderry: Set Your Soul Alive at the Alban Arena, featuring The X Factor star and his incredible band performing songs from rock and pop through to classical, are on sale now.
