BEADY Eye have had to cancel their scheduled appearance at next week’s V Festival 2013 while the group’s guitarist recovers from a head injury.
Liam Gallagher’s band were due to headline the second stage at Hylands Park, in Chelmsford, on Saturday, August 17, and at Weston Park, Staffordshire, the following day.
However, guitarist Gem Archer suffered “severe head trauma” following an accident on Thursday, August 1.
The group, formed after Oasis split up, subsequently cancelled appearances in Belgium and at the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo, Japan.
Now they have pulled out of V Festival 2013 as well.
A statement posted on the band’s website yesterday (Thursday) said: “Beady Eye regret to announce that they are cancelling their performance at V Festival and their remaining scheduled shows and promotional commitments in August due to guitarist Gem Archer suffering severe head trauma after an accident on August 1st.
“The band apologise to fans but under the circumstances feel they can not perform without Gem and want to focus on supporting him throughout his recovery.
“Gem was released from hospital yesterday evening and is recovering at home though remains under observation.”
Swedish House Mafia star Steve Angello, who was due to be the main attaction on the Arena Stage, will now headline the second stage at Hylands Park on the opening night of the festival.
The second stage line-up for V also includes The Courteeners, FUN., Labrinth, Of Monsters and Men, Maverick Sabre and James Arthur.
Ocean Colour Scene will now top the bill in the Arena stage on that night, with DJ Fresh and Travis also appearing live.
The main Virgin Media Stage will be headlined on the opening night at Hylands Park, in Essex, by Beyonce, with The Script, Jessie J, Two Door Cinema Club, Paloma Faith, James, Deacon Blue and Fratellis also on the bill.
