IT may seem strange for a band that split up less than three years ago to have a greatest hits compilation.

But when the group in question is as influential and popular as the Libertines, it is no surprise to see record company Rough Trade already cashing in on their success.

The Libertines are credited by many as having helped revive the stagnant UK indie music scene.

Time for Heroes includes all their biggest songs, including Can't Stand Me Now, What Katie Did, and the eponymous Time for Heroes.

However, it's a shame these are supplemented by a seemingly random selection of album tracks, rather than some of the outstanding rarities and B-sides which aren't available on their other records.

If you're not familiar with the work of the Libertines, this is as good a place to start as any.

But if you already own either or both of their albums, there is little here to justify you shelling out again.
