THE Vienna Festival Ballet is coming to Welwyn Garden City with its new production of Snow White.
SUMMER may be over but it really shouldn’t be the time to be thinking of snow – unless that Snow comes with a handsome prince, an enchanted mirror and a bewitched shiny red apple.
Naturally, the Snow under discussion here is Snow White, appearing in a new production – and world premiere – from the Vienna Festival Ballet at the Hawthorne Theatre, in Welwyn Garden City, on Sunday, October 13.
Internationally renowned choreographer Barry McGrath presents a fairytale for a new generation.
All the traditional elements from the Brothers Grimm are there, set to a stunning array of orchestrated pieces from composers, such as Faris and Gounod.
Barry McGrath was the former senior principal dancer of The Royal Ballet, principal dancer of London Festival Ballet, former senior principal dancer of the Scottish Ballet and New London Ballet.
He is joined in this production by Vonnie Meyrick-Brook, costume maker for blockbuster films such as Skyfall and the Harry Potter series, who has designed and made specially commissioned costumes for the principal dancers, Snow White and the Queen.
A sumptuous production is promised, sure to entertain and dazzle the whole family, and featuring a dance company that includes graduates from the Royal Ballet School.
So not only can you find out who is the fairest of all, you can learn to love Snow in October.
The Vienna Festival Ballet presents Snow White – The Ballet, at the Hawthorne Theatre on Sunday, October 13 at 2.30pm and 5.30pm.
Tickets are £19.50, and £16.50 for seniors, students and children.
