THERE’S a series of events organised in Welwyn Garden City for Halloween this year.

HALLOWEEN – traditionally a time for monsters, ghosts and ghouls to walk the land.

A time to beware what lurks in the shadows and to fear the dark. But this year, it’s not just the darkness you need to fear – for the horror comes out in the daylight hours, too.

Or at least it does if you’re at the Hawthorne Theatre and RollerCity in WGC on October 31, 2012, because there’s a whole day of fearsome treats for all ages and tastes to enjoy.

In RollerCity, the rink will be decorated in suitably spooky ways and there’ll be Snakes In A Coffin and Cow Pats available for food (that’s hot dogs and burgers to you and me).

There are two skating sessions for all ages during the day, starting at 1pm and 3pm, and a bumper over 18s session at 8.30pm. You’re encouraged to come along in costume to any of the sessions.

If that’s too energetic for you to enjoy, you can always spend the day in a darkened room with a bunch of strangers.

The Hawthorne Theatre’s cinema is showing a whole series of films with a spooky theme throughout the day, starting with the classic comedy of Ghostbusters (PG) at 10am.

It’s then the time-travelling troubles of Back To The Future (PG) at 12.15pm and rounding off a daytime’s jeopardy is the still terrifying Jaws (PG) at 3pm.

Things continue to darken as the sun goes down, with [Rec] 3: Genesis (15) at 5.45pm and recent chill-fest The Possession (15) at 7.45pm.

All the films are just £5 each, while the early sessions in RollerCity are £5.25 and the over 18s spookfest is £6.

Plus, if you use your Zebra Card, an extra 15 per cent is magically spirited away from the ticket price. Spooky!
