MUSICAL Grease has never been staged at the Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar.
But that is about to change as Potters Bar-based, award-winning musical theatre company Green Room Productions brings their all-singing, all-dancing, high-energy production of the classic to the Wyllyotts from Tuesday, November 5.
Alastair Woodgate, Green Room’s chairman, said: “What better way to shrug off these autumn nights than coming to hear Summer Nights, and other hit songs including You’re The One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Greased Lightnin’ and many more.
“So dust off your leather jackets, pull on your bobby socks and head back to the days of Rydell High as ‘bad boy’ Danny and ‘the girl next door’ Sandy fall in love all over again.
“This is the show that makes you want to shout ‘A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop, a-wop-bam-boom!”
Louisa Stevens plays Sandy, the role made famous by Olivia Newton-John opposite John Travolta in the film version.
Grease follows on from Green Room’s innovative spring musical double bill of The Boy Friend and Love Story and last year’s highly-acclaimed production of Scarlet Pimpernel, which won the London National Operatic and Dramatic Association Award for Best Musical for 2012/13.
Grease runs at the Wyllyotts Theatre from Tuesday, November 5 to Saturday, November 9 at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets can be booked by calling the Green Room box office on 07531 122206, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
But hurry – the Friday and both Saturday performances are already sold out, with a waiting list for returns, leaving just Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening to catch this pick-me-up musical.
