THE spirit of wartime comes to the Wyllyotts Theatre tomorrow (Thursday) when We’ll Meet Again – The Diamond Jubilee Show comes to Potters Bar.
Starring Marilyn Hill Smith from the West End tour of The Sound of Music, the show on Thursday includes music around the time of the Queen’s Coronation, to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.
The matinee show brings the spirit of the wartime era alive, and recreates the music and memories that kept Britain smiling through her darkest days.
The regular We’ll Meet Again team return with a new comedy star, Adam Daye, from TV’s Who Do You Do?, recalling the wonderful comedy radio stars of the period.
Marilyn Hill Smith, from BBC’s Friday Night Is Music Night, will bring back the memorable songs of Dame Vera Lynn and Gracie Fields, while the debonair Tony Leyton returns with the unforgettable songs of Bing Crosby, and Donald Peers by special request.
Ace musical entertainer Andy Eastwood, acknowledged as Britain’s best exponent on the ukulele, features both George Formby favourites and classical pieces never before heard on a ukulele.
Andy also presents his tribute to French violinist Stephane Grappele with swing violin melodies.
Versatile entertainer Mervyn Francis hosts the show, with the fabulous music of the Martyn St James band ensuring everyone leaves with a warm and sentimental glow.
