XFactor winner Joe McElderry and his band are performing at the Alban Arena next Friday, 13.

Joe, who comes on stage at 7.30pm, won the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009. His debut single, The Climb, reached number 1 in the UK and Irish singles chart and was soon followed by his debut album, Wide Awake.

In 2012, he released Here’s What I Believe, making him the first-ever X Factor winner to release four albums.

Although Joe is just 22, he is currently writing and recording for his fifth album which should be released this year.

Before Joe makes an appearance, rock’n’roll tribute band That’ll Be The Day return to the Arena.

Back by popular demand, the show can be seen at 7.30pm on Tuesday, June 10.

It features a line-up of hits from the 50s through to the 70s and plenty of comedy routines.

Tickets are £24 and £22.

n The Grand Budapest Hotel can be seen at the Arena next Wednesday and Thursday, June 11 and 12.

Directed by Wes Anderson, it recounts the adventures of Gustave H (Ralph Fiennes), a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend.

The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting, the battle for an enormous family fortune and the slow and then sudden upheavals that transformed Europe during the first half of the 20th Century.

It can be seen at 7.30pm both evenings and at 1.30pm on Wednesday. Tickets are £5 for matinees and £7 with concessions £5 for evenings.

Animated adventure Rio 2 is showing at the Arena at 11am next Saturday, June 14.
