The Subways' Billy Lunn performs an acoustic track

ROCK trio The Subways will be performing live in their hometown this evening (Thursday) as part of the Welwyn Garden City town centre Christmas lights switch-on.
Charlotte Cooper of WGC band The SubwaysThe festive illuminations in Howardsgate are due to be turned on around 7pm, with double Olympic medal-winning gymnast Max Whitlock and Team GB weightlifter Zoe Smith at the ceremony.
Former Holby City actress Phoebe Thomas, who is in this year’s WGC pantomime – Jack and the Beanstalk – at the Hawthorne Theatre, Campus West, will also be making an appearance.
WGC rockers The Subways are due to perform live on stage at 7.15pm.
Bass player Charlotte Cooper tweeted earlier today: “We’re playing a few songs in WGC for the Xmas lights turn on tonight! V excited to meet @zoepablosmith & @maxwhitlock1 !”
She later tweeted: “It’s been years since I’ve been to WGC! So cool to be back...can totally remember so many teenage weekends spent here!”
Meanwhile, Subways singer and guitarist Billy Lunn took to Twitter earlier this week to tweet: “I am suddenly really excited/nervous that we’re switching Welwyn Garden City’s lights on on Thursday! Eeeeek!”
