THE Subways have announced a series of live winter dates during a break in recording their new album.
The Welwyn Hatfield band have been hard at work recording new material this year, with frontman Billy Lunn producing.
Before its completion, the indie rock trio from Welwyn Garden City – Lunn, Charlotte Cooper and Josh Morgan – will be playing a series of live shows in Russia, Ukraine and South Africa.
Talking about the band’s new tracks and winter tour, bassist Charlotte said: “After an awesome summer of festivals, we’ve been hard at work in the studio with Billy at the production helm.
“The new songs are sounding awesome and we’re excited that we’ll hopefully be releasing new material next year.
“But before that we’re going back on tour. We’re playing a special show for Converse in Paris this weekend, which should be small, intimate and sweaty.
“Then we’re off to Russia and Ukraine for our own shows, which will be amazing.
“It will be the first time we play headline shows in Kiev and Krasnodar and we’re feeling very lucky to be asked back to Moscow, St Petersburg and Ekaterinburg. We love playing in Russia.”
The band’s tour of Ukraine and Russia next month starts at the Crystal Hall in Kiev on November 10.
After visits to St Petersburg, Krasnodar, Moscow and Ekaterinburg, The Subways will be heading to South Africa for a couple of gigs on November 22 and November 23, before playing a festival in Austria on December 7.
Charlotte added: “We’re incredibly excited to announce we’ll be playing South Africa for the first time. We can’t wait to see Cape Town and Johannesburg.
“Finally, we’ll be playing BergFestival in Austria in December. A personal wish for me has always been to play a snow festival, and I’ll definitely be hitting the slopes for some skiing fun after the show.”
