The synthpop pioneers from Sheffield topped the singles charts over Christmas 1981 with classic Don’t You Want Me, from seminal 80s album Dare.
You know the song.
“I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar...”
Phil Oakey, Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley enjoyed further top 10 hits with the likes of Mirror Man, Human and Tell Me When.
The likes of Lady GaGa, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, La Roux and Little Boots have all been inspired and influenced by the band’s back catalogue.
The Yorkshire group’s core surviving trio visit the University of Hertfordshire’s Forum in College Lane on Monday, December 10 for a live show.
