The likes of electro pioneer Gary Numan, Southampton trio Band of Skulls, Finnish love-metallers HIM, chart-toppers Limp Bizkit and headliners The Prodigy all played the main stage at the Hertfordshire stately home.

Among the fans heading to the Apollo Stage to watch Limp Bizkit’s performance was Kids in America singer Kim Wilde, who was there with her family.

During their set, Fred Durst’s nu-metal rappers played their cover of George Michael’s Faith and My Generation.

Dance/rock titans The Prodigy closed the main stage proceedings.

With Keith Flint and Maxim prowling the stage, the Essex band played a hit-laden show including favourites such as Poison, Omen, Voodoo People and number one hit Firestarter, as well as tracks from their forthcoming new album.

The Apollo stage was opened by The Defiled, who have appeared at every Sonisphere UK edition at Knebworth.

Meanwhile, over in the Bohemia tent thrash legends Anthrax played their Among The Living album in full ahead of their main stage appearance the following day.
