The international touring festival returns to the grounds of Knebworth House from Friday, July 4 to Sunday, July 6, with campsites open from this afternoon (Thursday).

The bus service will run during the scheduled train timings from Stevenage station to the Sonisphere site, starting at 1pm on Thursday, July 3 and ending once the final festival-goer has left on Monday, July 7.

It will be a continuous service, rather than at set times. More buses will be available during busy periods, but Sonisphere ticket holders may need to wait for a short while to get the next available bus.

The coach will cost £8 for a wristband, which gives music fans unlimited use, subject to running restrictions.

A statement on the festival’s website said: “The shuttle bus is not reserved for just rail users.

“It can be used by local festival-goers and people staying or parking in Stevenage.”

The shuttle bus will ferry rock fans from Argyle Way, which is down a pathway from the foot of the railway station bridge, to the entrance to the festival at Knebworth Park.

The three-day 2014 Sonisphere rock and metal extravaganza will be headlined by The Prodigy, Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Also on the bill are the likes of Slayer, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Frank Turner, Gary Numan, Dream Theater, The Sisters of Mercy, Anthrax, HIM, Airbourne, Mastodon and Alice in Chains.
