IRON Maiden and Metallica will play exclusive UK shows at next summer’s Sonisphere 2014 Festival in Knebworth Park.
"We said in 2013 that if we had the right line-up then we would be back, and that’s exactly what we’ve got in 2014."
Metal fans will get the chance to see Iron Maiden and Metallica together on the same bill for the first time in this country at Sonisphere Knebworth next year.
The legendary British heavy metal band fronted by Bruce Dickinson and the American thrash metal titans from Bay Area, California, will co-headline at Sonisphere Festival 2014.
Sonisphere’s UK leg returns to the grounds of gothic mansion Knebworth House from Friday, July 4 to Sunday, July 6.
And after two years away, it’s a major coup for Kili Live, promoters of the pan-European touring festival, to have captured the two biggest metal acts in the world today.
Although both have played Knebworth before – Metallica headlined the inaugural Sonisphere in 2009 and again in 2011, while Iron Maiden closed the 2010 event – this will be the first time rock fans have been able to catch both headlining at the same festival in the UK.
It will also be both groups’ only British shows in 2014.
The Knebworth rock and metal festival will help celebrate 40 years of concerts at the iconic outdoor venue in the Hertfordshire countryside.
A Team Sonisphere statement said: “During our two-year absence we’ve continued to believe in and work hard on Sonisphere.
“We said in 2013 that if we had the right line-up then we would be back, and that’s exactly what we’ve got in 2014.
“The omens were obviously on our side when we secured the two biggest and best metal acts of all time in the year that also brings the 40th anniversary of the first concert at Knebworth.
“Our excitement at being able to offer Metallica and Iron Maiden on the same bill for the first time ever has been hard to contain.
“To do so in a year of great celebration for the iconic venue is very satisfying. Sonisphere 2014 is going to be a legendary year!”
Tickets for the three-day event are on sale now via the Sonisphere website at http://sonisphere.co.uk/
Early bird weekend tickets cost £170, with limited availability.
