Music festival Slam Dunk South 2014 has kicked off in Hatfield in glorious sunshine.
The touring pop-punk, ska-punk, hardcore metal and rock event opened at The Forum Hertfordshire, on the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus, this afternoon (Sunday).
The festival’s Twitter handle, @SlamDunkMusic, tweeted: “The sun is shining and Slam Dunk South is in full swing! #SDF14”
Spread across seven indoor and outdoor arenas, the main stage will be headlined by The All-American Rejects tonight.
The likes of Mallory Knox and We Are The In Crowd will also play the Kerrang! Jagermeister stage today.
Ska-punk favourites Less Than Jake are due to top the bill this evening on the Macbeth Footwear Stage in the Forum’s Auditorium.
Kids in Glass Houses will also play their debut album Smart Casual on the Atticus Stage in the Forum’s Refectory.
Organisers this morning also confirmed a surprise Hatfield appearance by Deaf Havana on the Acoustic Stage upstairs in the Forum’s Style Bar tonight.
The festival’s tweeted: “We have an awesome surprise set on the @becomeantique acoustic stage today... @deafhavana will be playing at 8:45! Style Bar! #SDF14”
The band played Slam Dunk’s main stage last year.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Landscapes were unable to perform on the Cheer Up Clothing Stage, with Great Cynics replacing them.
Slam Dunk Festival North took place at Leeds University yesterday (Saturday), with Slam Dunk Midlands 2014 arriving at Wolverhampton Civic tomorrow – Bank Holiday Monday, May 26.
