The first Slam Dunk Festival 2014 line-up announcement will be confirmed tomorrow (Wednesday).
The pop-punk, rock, punk, ska and metal festival returns to the University of Hertfordshire, in Hatfield, on Sunday, May 25 for its southern leg at The Forum Hertfordshire.
Slam Dunk North takes place at Leeds University the day before, on Saturday, May 24, with the festival returning to Wolverhampton Civic for Slam Dunk Midlands on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26.
Organisers confirmed last week via the festival’s official Facebook page when the first bands will be announced, with the headliners to be confirmed on Wednesday, February 12.
Tickets for Slam Dunk North, South and Midlands will go on sale this Friday, Valentine’s Day, at 9am, with price details to follow.
A status update on Slam Dunk’s Facebook page read: “We will be announcing the first few bands for Slam Dunk Festival 2014 on Wednesday 12th February.”
The statement added: “This is the only information we are releasing for now. Sorry its taken a while, many thanks for your patience.”
Ahead of the main Slam Dunk 2014 line-up announcement tomorrow, organisers have confirmed the first Slam Dunk Ska Punk tour.
Goldfinger, one of ska punk’s big three, will play a series of UK dates in May as part of this tour.
Joining them will be Zebrahead, who will be bringing their unique brand of rap infused ska punk to these shores once more.
Opening the shows will be the recently reformed UK ska punks Fandangle.
The Slam Dunk Ska Punk tour will visit Club Academy in Manchester on Thursday, May 22, and Newcastle’s O2 Academy the following day.
There is then a break in the itinerary while the three Slam Dunk Festival shows take place, before the Ska Punk Tour visit the Waterfront in Norwich on Tuesday, May 27.
The tour will finish in the Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth, on Wednesday, May 28.
A status update on Slam Dunk’s Facebook page last week read: “While you guys are waiting for our announcement next Wednesday (Feb 12th) we have some awesome news for all you ska punk fans out there.
“We are delighted to announce that we have put together the first ‘Slam Dunk Ska Punk Tour’ featuring our friends in Goldfinger, Zebrahead and Fandangle.”
The update added: “Also, I wonder what the gap in the tour dates is all about!?”
