LOCALLY-based trio Said The Maiden who are making waves in the world of folk music are appearing at Redbourn Folk Club next Thursday, March 7.
In the last two months they have played prestigious gigs at the Maltings Theatre in St Albans, have supported Ray Cooper of the Oyster Band in Birmingham and opened for The Fisherman’s Friends at The Alban Arena.
They will be returning to the Arena on March 16 as the first-ever folk act in the Music City Unsigned concert and are due to support the much acclaimed duo Megson next month at the Baldock and Letchworth Folk Club.
Before that they are headlining and launching their new CD at Redbourn Folk Club at The Hollybush in Church End, Redbourn, next Thursday.
The club was the first place Said the Maiden sung together around 18 months ago and the trio always receive a warm welcome when they return.
They comprise Hannah James (fiddle, accordion and vocal), Jess Distill (ukulele and vocal) and Kathy Pilkington (guitar and vocal) and perform a wide range of mainly traditional songs from the UK and America.
Redbourn Folk Club runs every Thursday night and the evening gets underway at 8.30pm. Admission is £5.
