Another 13 bands have been added to the 2014 Slam Dunk Festival set to take place in Hatfield in May.
Organisers of the touring pop-punk, ska, punk, rock and rock music event announced today (Wednesday) that Kids in Glass Houses will play a special set at Slam Dunk 2014.
Also confirmed for the late May Bank Holiday weekend’s bill are Chiodos, Mallory Knox, We The Kings, Capdown, Gnarwolves and Jesse James.
Slam Dunk South will return to The Forum Hertfordshire complex at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield on Sunday, May 25.
The North leg of the three-part festival will take place at Leeds University on Saturday, May 24, with the main Slam Dunk tour hitting Wolverhampton Civic for the Midlands show on Monday, May 26.
Festival dates and venues
* Saturday, May 24
Slam Dunk Festival North: Leeds University.
* Sunday, May 25
Slam Dunk Festival South: The Forum Hertfordshire, Hatfield.
* Monday, May 26
Slam Dunk Festival Midlands: Wolverhampton Civic.
Joining exclusive headliners The All-American Rejects will be Kids In Glass Houses, who headlined Hatfield Rocks at The Forum last year.
Having announced their impending split earlier in the year, Slam Dunk was the one festival they truly wanted to do a final time.
In celebration of which, they will be exclusively playing their debut album, Smart Casual, in its entirety.
Frontman Alex Phillips said: “Our first Slam Dunk show was the day before Smart Casual was released and the festival feels intrinsically linked to our beginnings as a band.
“It seems only fitting, then, that we should say goodbye to the festival the same we said hello, by playing Smart Casual in full.
“It’s been six whole years and a lot of has happened since but it’s still as fresh in our minds as the colossal hangover we suffered on release day. We can’t wait.”
Another band who have had an incredible year is Mallory Knox.
After debuting at the festival last year, the Cambridgeshire alternative rockers will return with their first UK shows in four months.
Fans will possibly even get to hear new material of their forthcoming new album for the very first time.
Singer Mikey Chapman said: “We are so, so happy to be a part of Slam Dunk again.
“It was one of our highlights of last year, so to be back doing it again a little higher up the bill is a great honour for us. Cant wait for Slam Dunk 2014!”
In true Slam Dunk fashion, there is already an impeccable ska-punk line-up forming, but it was missing a couple of the old favourites.
UK legends Capdown will return once more out of retirement, but not only that, Jesse James are exclusively reforming to play their first shows together since 2007.
Chiodos will also join the bill, in support of their new record, which is their first offering since the band reformed.
Exclusively flying in for the festival, after a break from the UK live scene of over two years, Florida rockers We The Kings will return.
Also returning to rock the festival all the way from sunny Florida will be The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
Other acts announced include the laptop rap of MC Lars, scuzzed up skate punk rock from Gnarwolves, exciting new US band Ghost Town, Heart Of A Coward, Welsh pop punkers Save Your Breath, and the angular geek rock of Modern Baseball.
Tickets are priced at £35, and £39 with afterparty across all sites.
