The all-day festival will feature performances from guitar great Richard Thompson, BRIT Award winner Beth Orton, acclaimed folk singer-songwriter Seth Lakeman and Kathryn Tickell on the main stage.
Folk supergroup The Elizabethan Session, Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita and Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker will also perform.
The eclectic Folk by the Oak 2014 line-up includes an award-winning collaboration between a celebrated young harpist and Senegal’s most inventive kora player.
Welsh classical harpist Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita, the finest British-based exponent of the African kora, will appear on the main stage at Hatfield House this afternoon (Sunday).
A spokeswoman for the all-day outdoor summer concert said: “The first impression is what an unlikely combination of two completely different cultures this is.
“But when you hear the inextricably cascading notes, you realise that there are fascinating similarities that connect these two instruments.”
The pair recently won the Songlines Award for Cross Cultural Collaboration. This accolade isn’t their first –album Clychau Dibon won fRoots 2013 Album of the Year and was nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
The star-studded main stage will also feature a performance by 2013 BBC Folk Awards ‘Musician of the Year’, composer, virtuoso performer and successful recording artist, Kathryn Tickell.
Her work is deeply rooted in the landscape and people of Northumbria and she will perform with her folk-classical ensemble The Side, comprising Louisa Tuck on cello, Ruth Wall on harp and Amy Thatcher on accordion, and the clog dancing
Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, regarded as “one of the hottest tickets in folk” by BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe, will also perform at Hatfield House.
The sublime combination of Josienne’s jewel-like voice and Ben’s musical tact and mastery of the guitar make this duo a compelling act and a fine addition to the Folk by the Oak line-up for 2014.
Gates open at 12.30pm with the main stage acts starting around an hour later.
Adults tickets cost £40 on the day, subject to availability.
