Renowned band leader Dennis Rollins and his Velocity Trio play Herts Jazz Club this Sunday.

With his various groups, Dennis has won prestigious awards including Band of the Year at the Jazz Yorkshire Awards in 2012 with the Velocity Trio.

On his own he has won three Best Trombone awards and was recently given the title of Player of the Year by the British Trombone Society.

Dennis leads the trio on trombone with Ross Stanley, organ and Pedro Segundo, drums.

The jazz club meets from 7.30pm at the Hawthorne Theatre in Welwyn Garden City and tickets are available in advance from www.hertsjazz.co.uk/currentseason.html at £3 students/£8 members/£10 concessions/£11 full.

On the door they are £5 students/£9 members/£11 concessions/£13 full.

Restoration work at Knebworth House: Beautifully sculpted by Spectrum Stone of Newmarket, these beasts form the most visible element of the current restoration project. Each of the carved stone beasts was carefully craned up into position by specialist teams.

There have been some dark and stormy nights lashing historic Knebworth House in recent weeks – but the new beasts who have become part of the landmark building have been unmoved by thunder, lightning and lashing rain.
