Bricket Wood Community Choir at SandPit Theatre

A second charity concert is being given by the Bricket Wood Community Choir in a St Albans theatre next Sunday, July 13.
It will feature a varied programme ranging from classic pop songs to show tunes and gospel music, performed by the choir which was formed just under two years ago.
More than 60 people went along to the first rehearsal and as word spread, over 100 members now attend regular choir rehearsals.
Musical director Rob Hagon said: “The feedback we get from members is unbelievable. We started the choir with the main aim of singing for fun and building community, and this seems to have resonated with a lot of people.
“Our members span every age group and background but everyone speaks about how much they enjoy being in the choir and for some, how it has transformed their life. There is just something about collective singing which is uplifting and amazing at bringing people together.”
He added: “Most of our members had never sung before joining the choir, but they all come along with energy and enthusiasm, and this really shows when they sing. Last summer we gave our first concert to a sold-out audience who were on their feet by the end of the night.”
The concert, which is to raise money for the charity Music4Children, starts at 7.30pm at the SandPit Theatre at Sandringham School on The Ridgeway. Tickets are £6, available from the box office on 01727 370067 or www.sandpittheatre.co.uk
