SINGER Kim Wilde has become an unexpected Christmas YouTube hit after a video of her singing Kids in America on a train went viral.
A merry Kim serenaded commuters heading from London towards Potters Bar with a rendition of her 1981 hit Kids in America.
The Codicote singer, Magic FM radio presenter and keen gardener was accompanied by brother Ricky Wilde on guitar.
As the First Capital Connect train approaches Potters Bar station, the pair – on their way home from a Christmas party – also perform Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree as an encore.
A video of the impromptu performance was taken by actress and singer Katherine Eames and has had more than half a million views since being posted on YouTube.
Katherine said: “After a truly rubbish day, I got on the train home and couldn’t get a seat. A man pulled out his guitar. ‘Oh here we go,’ I thought.”
The woman singing was 80s star Kim wearing reindeer antlers on her head. As passengers look on, Kim’s brother Ricky falls over at one point while playing guitar. He gets up and the pair continue with the song.
Katherine added: “This totally made my day. Thank you. She is an absolute legend!”
Kim tweeted on Friday: “Truly, I am overwhelmed and confused at such a huge reaction to my night out on the tiles. Making me giggle a LOT: )”
She also said on Twitter: “Glad this got you in the Xmas spirit, I was certainly FULL of it! x”
Brother Ricky tweeted this morning (Saturday): “BIG Thank you to everyone for all your beautiful messages, can not believe how a moment of mad fun has spread like wildfire! XX #overwhelmed”
