The Jean Toussaint Quartet plays Herts Jazz Club this Sunday.
Bursting on to the world stage in the early 1980s with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Jean, now a UK resident, has performed widely with such greats as Horace Silver, Max Roach, Cedar Walton and McCoy Tyner. A musician and composer, his contribution to the British scene includes collaborations with many young artists and he is also a respected educator.
Jean’s current tour is promoting his 10th CD, Tate Song, which was produced and recorded by drummer Troy Miller.
It features British pianist/composer Andrew McCormack and it is held togther by bassist Larry Bartley.
The jazz club meets from 7.30pm at the Hawthorne Theatre, Welwyn Garden City, and tickets in advance at £3 students/£10 members/£13 concessions/£14 full can be obtained from www.hertsjazz.co.uk/currentseason.html
