HOSTS of two comedy clubs will join together under one roof next week in the name of charity.
Mostly Comedy’s Doggett and Ephgrave will appear alongside Lastminutecomedy Club founder Paul B Edwards for a show raising funds for Letchworth GC-based Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
The Hitchin comedians have been the backbone of the Comet country comedy scene for many years and will be sharing a stage at The Victoria pub on Thursday, March 14.
Doggett and Ephgrave will compere the gig, held in the Hitchin pub’s barn.
The duo have a “keen eye for the absurd and are both polished, natural comedians” according to Camden Fringe Voyeur.
Stand-up veteran Paul B Edwards, who has performed at more than 2,000 shows in the UK and abroad, will be in his home town on the back of celebrating Lastminutecomedy’s 20th anniversary gig this week.
Support comes from another Hitchin-based comedy duo Spandex Ballet.
Described by Lee Mack as “short, but not comedically short”, Chris Hollis and Leon Camfield will be performing a set of musical comedy with controversy aplenty.
Completing the line-up will be Stevenage comic Duncan Hart – told in his school report that it was “about time he realised the world will judge him on his exams results, not his ability to make people laugh”.
The former Thomas Alleyne pupil will be serving up a dose of his self-deprecating humour which pokes fun at his own real-life experiences.
The Victoria is offering use of its barn in Ickleford Road for free so all proceeds from ticket sales will go to the MS Trust, based at the Spirella Building in Bridge Road.
The venue holds 50 people, with doors opening for the gig at 7.30pm before the first act takes to the stage at 8.30pm.
Tickets cost £10 and are available from The Victoria, the Comet offices at Bank House in Primett Road, Stevenage, and the Local and Tourist Information Centre in Station Road, Letchworth GC.
Comet reporter Nick Gill is organising the night as he prepares to run the London Marathon in April for the MS Trust, which provides information and support to those with the condition nationwide.
