The Jean Toussaint Quartet will play a sold-out concert at Herts Jazz Club, in the Terrace Suite at the Hawthorne Theatre tonight (Sunday).

Born in the US Virgin Islands and raised in New York, Jean burst onto the world stage in the early 1980s with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers.

Now living in the UK, Jean has performed with such greats as Horace Silver, Max Roach, Cedar Walton and McCoy Tyner to name but a few.

A tremendous musician and composer, his valuable contribution to the British scene includes collaborations with many young artists and he is also a respected educator.

Jean’s current tour is promoting his new CD, Tate Song, his 10th as a leader and, according to all reports, his greatest thus far.

The CD was produced and recorded by master drummer Troy Miller, who also fills the drum chair with great flair and interaction.

It features, presently living in Brooklyn USA, fantastic British pianist/composer Andrew McCormack and it is all held together by the steadily striving pulse of ace bassist Larry Bartley.

The quartet will be playing live in WGC from 7.30pm.

They will surprise and delight you with their repertoire of unique originals and interestingly arranged standards in a concert not to be missed.
