A leading trombonist will be appearing live in concert in Welwyn Garden City this evening (Sunday).
Mark Nightingale will play Herts Jazz Club at the Hawthorne Theatre, Campus West, on Sunday night with the Clark Tracey Trio from 7.30pm.
Mark took up the trombone as a child and at the age of 15 won the prestigious award named for Don Lusher. Immediately following this he became lead trombonist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO).
It was while he was with the NYJO that Nightingale extended his musical prowess into the fields of composing and arranging.
The experience gained during his tenure with the NYJO also helped him to become a first-call trombonist with several big bands, including those led by Michael Garrick, Stan Tracey, Kenny Wheeler and Colin Towns.
He will be joined in WGC on Sunday by drummer Clark Tracey, pianist Richard Busiaciewicz and Dave Green on bass.
Advance tickets cost £3 students, £8 Herts Jazz members, £10 concessions and £11 full.
Walk-ups are £5 students, £9 members, £11 concessions and £13 full.
