Sam, who will play at Hitchin Club 85’s The Peel Club, last visited the town in his triumphant Rhythms of the World 2010 headliner.

The Southend born musician has been described as an indie/emo/folk fusion, but refuses to be pigeonholed.

An impassioned performer, Sam writes songs which are tuned-in and tuneful, and is a staunch supporter of many causes including Love Music Hate Racism and Fairtrade. He’s also played the Martyrs of Tolpuddle Festival, an event to commemorate the historic revolt by six Dorset farm labourers that paved the way for the founding of the trade union movement.

Get Cape Wear Cape Fly’s music has featured in TV hit shows such as The OC and Private Practice and Sam has also appeared in shows as diverse as Hollyoaks, Newsnight, Question Time and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

Explaining his musical approach, he says: “People get caught up in pretension, as if music has to be redefined all the time. Why? Communication is the thing - getting a message across. Think of Woody Guthrie and Billy Bragg. Just because a song’s got a simply melody doesn’t make it less important.”

His Hitchin gig also showcases a range of talent, with support on the night coming from The Owen Stephen Band, Robbing King Richard and Holly Knowles.

The fun will kick off on Saturday, January 5, with doors opening at 7.45pm and music following half an hour later.

Tickets are now available and cost £6 in advance. They can be bought from Jolly Brown in Hitchin, David’s Music in Letchworth GC or online at www.wegottickets.com, and are also available on the door at £8 a head.

The gig is open to anyone aged 16 plus.
