The Duchess

It’s a candlelight cracker – John Webster’s macabre Elizabethan masterpiece The Duchess of Malfi is the first presentation in a new season of Shakespeare’s Globe On Screen, which brings ‘as live’ screenings of classic stage drama to local cinemas, offering audiences a ticket to the best seat in the house.

Michael Keaton in Birdman

Well, that’s worked out very nicely for the clever programmers at Royston’s Picture Palace – the movie which took top honours at the Oscars on Sunday night is showing in town this weekend.

Timothy Spall stars in Mr Turner

It might not be much of a consolation to Mike Leigh and Timothy Spall after being left out in the cold at the Baftas and ignored in the running for Oscar glory – but their much-praised biopic of Britain’s greatest ever artist will be back on screen at Royston’s Picture Palace this week.

Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything

It’s been nominated for five Oscars, it’s the only film in the running this year where both leads have a chance of collecting a golden statuette – it’s no surprise that The Theory Of Everything has proved to be a big draw at Royston’s Picture Palace this weekend.
