Stars from Hertfordshirewill be heading to the mythical village of Greendale in the new Postman Pat movie.

The big screen reboot of the classic kids’ show, which charts the adventures of amiable mailman Pat and his trusty black and white cat Jess, hits cinema screens today (Friday).

Starring as the voice of the alliteratively-named postal worker will be former Potters Bar schoolboy and Episodes star Stephen Mangan, who attended Lochinver House in his salad days.

Also in the movie will be a voiceover appearance from Harry Potter star and Kimpton-based actor Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the hit movie franchise.

He will play a character called Josh.

Other stars lending their distinctive dulcet tones to the denizens of Greendale will be former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating, who will play a singing Postman Pat, Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent and ex-Timelord David Tennant, who played the tenth incarnation of Doctor Who.

The movie’s plot includes a battle to rein in an army of errant robot Pats and the real Pat’s entry into an X Factor style talent show.
