The music club’s annual party kicks off at 8pm and this year’s stocking filler promises a night of seriously festive hardcore jazz with some of the hottest names on the circuit.

Clark ‘Santa’ Tracey, Herts Jazz’s artistic director, said: “This will be possibly the best Xmas jazz night in the land.

“Expect some unannounced headliners to drop in to add to the proceedings.

“Thanks for a great year and keep supporting Herts Jazz.”

Confirmed musicians include Simon Spillett, winner of the British Jazz Award for tenor saxophone in 2011, on tenor sax, and Mark Nightingale on trombone.

Tony Kofi, winner of best instrumentalist at the 2008 BBC Jazz Awards, will be on saxes, while Dick Pearce, alumnus of the Ronnie Scott Quintet, plays trumpet.

Steve Melling will also be on piano, Simon Thorpe on bass and Herts Jazz Club’s own Clark Tracey on drums.

Tickets for the concert cost £13 in advance and £16 at the door.

Club members pay £10 and it’s £5 for students and under-21s.
