A HOT event which is off the Scoville Scale will tickle the taste buds this weekend.
The eagerly-anticipated annual chilli festival fires back into Benington, on Sunday and August Bank Holiday Monday.
The event, at Benington Lordship Gardens, will feature chilli plants and products, hot food, iced beers and cold chilli-flavoured ice cream.
The fearsome chilli-eating contest will also take place at 1pm on both days, where 15 brave – or possibly stupid – contestants battle their way through a procession of increasingly spicy chillies according to the official thermometer of chilli hotness – the Scoville Scale.
The epic ‘man vs food’ event will culminate with the ferocious Dorset Naga.
And all this will be accompanied by the exotic melodies of a Peruvian pipe band and outrageous entertainer Bruce Airhead.
The event runs from 10am to 5pm. Entry is £7.50, under-16s £2.50, and under-12s free. Parking is free.
