A MEMBER of Steve Winwood’s band will be showcasing his own music at Campus West in Welwyn Garden City this weekend.
The Paul Booth Quartet plays Herts Jazz Club in WGC on Sunday night from 7.45pm.
Having released three solo albums to date, tenox Paul Booth has firmly established himself as an in-demand solo artist, as well as a ‘first call’ sideman for many big names in both jazz and popular music.
In his early years, while studying at the Royal Academy of Music, he won a string of awards, including the prestigious Clifford Brown/Stan Getz fellowship held in Miami and ‘The Best Modern Jazz Player’ category in the televised Young Jazz Player of the Year competition.
His ability to blend into any musical surrounding, coupled with his talents as a multi-instrumentalist, has seen him work with a variety of well-known artists, including Steve Winwood, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton and the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
He will be joined in the Terrace Suite at the Hawthorne Theatre by Phil Robson on guitar, Ross Stanley on organ and James Maddren on drums.
Tickets cost £11 online, £13 at the door, £8 for Herts Jazz members and just £5 for students and under-21s.
