A truly original voice in contemporary jazz guitar will be performing live in Welwyn Garden City this evening (Sunday).
The Jim Mullen Organ Trio plays Herts Jazz Club on Sunday from 7.30pm at the Hawthorne Theatre complex.
Originally from Glasgow, Mullen moved to London in 1969, going on to work in the groups of Pete Brown, Brian Auger, Vinegar Joe and Kokomo.
In 1975, he met sax player Dick Morrissey, and they began a 15-year association.
After the demise of this outfit, he worked with jazz vocalist Claire Martin and formed a series of quartets.
The Jim Mullen Organ Trio brings together three of the leading jazz exponents in the UK.
Guitarist Jim will be joined by Ross Stanley on organ and Matt Skelton on drums.
Performing a richly dynamic set of originals and Mullen-ised standards, expect a hard swinging evening of melodic, blues drenched modern jazz.
Tickets cost £11 in advance full, £10 concessions, £8 members and £3 students.
If any tickets are left, walk-ups cost £5 students, £9 members, £11 concessions and £13 full.
