The owner of a dog who was injured after being “flattened” by another in an attack on Therfield Heath in Royston has called on dog walkers to take more responsibility and not be out with ones they can’t control.
A 10-year-old girl from Barkway has swum the distance of a half marathon over seven months at Royston Leisure Centre to raise £650 for her friend who has an inoperable brain tumour.
The Barkway community awoke to a portion of High Street being completely blocked by roadworks yesterday, which were in place to repair a damaged culvert “in danger of collapse”.
A proposal to build a car park on part of Barkway Recreation Ground was put on the back burner at a meeting on Monday night, as villagers came forward to oppose the plans.
The chair of Barkway Parish Council has said the plans to move play equipment on the recreation ground to make way for a car park will provide a solution to parking problems around the area and help resolve safety issues.
Now the leaves are on the trees and spring is in full swing, one North Herts village’s thoughts quickly turn to their major annual event, which brings in heaps of visitors and raises cash for community causes.
